Project Synopsis
Perform an independent review of relief valves calculations for an Uniaxial Hot Press used within a nuclear materials related process.
Project Summary
Process Engineering Associates, LLC (PROCESS) was contracted by a multi-disciplined engineering company and tasked with performing an independent review of relief valves calculations for an Uniaxial Hot Press used with a nuclear materials related process. The purpose of this review was to ensure that the relief valves were appropriately sized, and enough information was provided to justify the relief valve selections. The failure scenarios considered included:
- Closed inlet
- Closed outlet
- Abnormal flow
- Coolant failure
- Entrance of a volatile fluid
- Control failure
- Reflux failure
- Heat exchanger tube failure
- Accumulation of non-condensables
- Abnormal heat
- Chemical reaction
- Thermal expansion
- Pool fire.
The relief valves considered for this review are listed below:
- Cooling Blower Loop System Relief
- Furnace Exhaust System Pressure Relief
- Compressed Air System Pressure Relief
- Water System Pressure Relief.
Industry Type
