Project Synopsis
Assist a process equipment provider in their sales efforts of a newly designed fuel gas conditioner unit by developing a process simulation model of the unit to provide separation efficiency and capacity data for discussions with the potential buyer.
Project Summary
The client, an equipment sales & service company, was presenting their fuel gas conditioner design to a US multinational oil & gas production company (the ultimate client) for consideration in their gas pipeline operations in the western US. The client contracted PROCESS to model their fuel gas conditioner design to provide separation efficiency and capacity data for discussions with the ultimate client. The design intent for the fuel gas conditioner included separation of natural gas to remove heavier components to a liquid stream thereby increasing methane content and lowering the overall heat of combustion (Btu/scf). The following tasks were performed by PROCESS:
- Design Basis Development which involved the development of the baseline information that will govern subsequent tasks.
- Process Simulation Model Development of the existing fuel gas conditioner design.
- Process simulation model Sensitivity Runs of the fuel gas conditioner varying throughput, inlet pressure, and control valve pressure drops to determine the effect of each variable, individually and in combination, on the separation efficacy and capacity of the unit.
- Sensitivity Runs Results Summary compiling the results of the various simulation runs and reporting those to the client.
- Follow-up Simulation Runs to answer questions from both the client and ultimate client.
