Project Synopsis
Develop an FEL-1 process design for a proposed Fiberglass Recycling Plant.
Project Summary
Process Engineering Associates LLC (PROCESS) was contracted by a fiberglass recycling company to develop an FEL-1 process design for a proposed Fiberglass Recycling Plant. The client has developed and is currently operating a batch pilot-plant that receives fiberglass feedstock from spent wind turbine blades, cuts/shreds, processes using multi-stage pyrolysis, washes in a salt bath, water rinses, and tumble dries to produce a bulk fiberglass product (recycled fiberglass) suitable for use in other applications. The process also produces some emissions, wastewater, and condensed heavy oils.
The FEL-1 process design development included the following tasks / deliverables:
- Project Kickoff Meeting and Site Visit
- Preliminary Process Design Basis Development
- Preliminary Mass and Energy Balance Preparation
- Preliminary PFD and Process Description Preparation
- Process Risk Assessment
- Environmental Assessment.
Industry Type
Materials Recycling
Utilized Skills
