Project Synopsis
Provide conceptual process design support to a multi-disciplined engineering team to support proposal development for the design-build of a new High Purity Depleted Uranium conversions facility.
Project Summary
Process Engineering Associates, LLC (PROCESS) was tasked with assisting a multi-disciplined engineering company in the proposal development for a new High Purity Depleted Uranium conversions facility which will take uranium oxide feed and convert it to uranium tetrafluoride. To achieve this throughput, PROCESS assisted in developing a conceptual design of a smaller conversion line in an existing building as well as a new full-scale facility that will be a greenfield processing facility on an existing plant site. It was determined in the proposal phase that PROCESS would be responsible for the process design. PROCESS contributed to the proposal by developing the following items:
- Mass Balance
- Preliminary Equipment Sets and Sizes
- Block Flow Diagram
- Preliminary Building Layout
- Process Design Cost Estimate
- Process System Narratives
Industry Type
Nuclear Materials Processing
Utilized Skills
- Proposal development support
- Preliminary process design development.
