Project Synopsis

Provide process design information for a gas fired water heating system to be installed as a skid-mounted unit in oil field applications.

Project Summary

GAS FIRED WATER HEATER SYSTEM ENGINEERING SUPPORT

The client, an engineering company that does international process engineering work, subcontracted Process Engineering Associates, LLC (PROCESS) to execute work for the ultimate client, a process vessel fabricator in Southwestern Asia.  PROCESS provided additional process design information for a pair of gas fired water heating vessels.  The heaters are ultimately expected to be installed in oil fields.  The client was in need of a simple Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) and an equipment and instrumentation list so that a skid-mounted package unit could be developed for the two vessels.

PROCESS developed a P&ID and generated the corresponding equipment list, piping list, instrument list, valve list, and safety valve list for the client.  The design generated allows the two fired heaters to be operated individually, using one as a backup, or in series to ensure that adequate heating occurs during cold ambient conditions.
