Project SynopsisProvide on-site staff augmentation project engineering support at a nuclear materials processing facility.
SPECIALTY METALS PROCESSING FACILITY ON-SITE PROCESS ENGINEERING SUPPORT
Process Engineering Associates, LLC (PROCESS) was contracted by the client, a private sector specialty metals processor, to provide staff-augmentation support to their Engineering Projects group as a Project Lead. In this capacity, PROCESS was charged with the design and selection of a replacement plant air compressor as the second phase of the client’s plant air upgrade project. As Project Lead, PROCESS personnel participated heavily in preparing documentation for the client’s gated process for implementing projects that could impact production uptime. This included generating an equipment selection analysis along with lifecycle cost estimates to justify the size and the features chosen for the equipment. Additionally, the Project Lead was in charge of integrating other engineering deliverables from all applicable disciplines, verifying the engineering design package was necessary and sufficient for the task, development of disposal and shipment plans, generating project schedules, generating financial cost layouts, and documenting all affected safety basis implications while liaising with the Integrated Safety Analysis group. Finally, PROCESS personnel communicated with the chosen equipment vendor and led interactions between client personnel and the vendor to identify weaknesses in previous support, and implemented a plan to ensure future services would be improved. Throughout the project, the Project Lead helped ensure that all Client stakeholder’s requirements were being met or adjusted to accommodate the interests of conflicting requirements and production needs.
