Provide process engineering support to a multi-disciplined engineering company to improve the design of a novel uranium enrichment technology in support of technology licensing efforts.
Project Summary
Process Engineering Associates, LLC (PROCESS) was tasked with assisting a multi-disciplined engineering company in the licensing effort associated with the Paducah Laser Enrichment Facility (PLEF). This facility will process enrich tails uranium hexafluoride to depleted enrichment levels as well enriching depleted uranium to low level enriched uranium depending on the clients requests using state of the art laser enrichment technology.
Typical UF6 handling unit operations were incorporated into the design.
To support the licensing effort PROCESS prepared or assisted in the preparation of the following deliverables:
- Block Flow Diagrams (BFDs)
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Process Hazards Analysis
- Mass Balance
- Specifications.
